How to Search Civil Dockets
No single public tool searches every Sabine County civil docket. First decide whether the dispute is a district civil or family matter, a limited Constitutional County Court matter, or a justice-court claim. Lisa Pitre's District Clerk office keeps the 1st and 273rd District Courts' civil and family files. Jamie Clark's County Clerk keeps the county court's limited civil records. JP clerks keep small-claims and eviction dockets.
Use the court, party names, cause number if known, and an approximate filing date. Electronic access is only one route. Phone, mail, email, fax where offered, and in-person inspection remain important when a portal has no result.
- Identify the court from the petition, citation, notice, or case number.
- Try re:SearchTX for an electronic filing that may be in the statewide collection.
- For a JP claim, identify Precinct 1 or Precinct 2 and contact that clerk if GovRec does not expose the case.
- Read the dated entries, then request the actual order or judgment behind any key event.
- Ask the responsible clerk for a plain or certified copy and current fee quote.
Sabine County Civil Docket Custodians
Sabine County has three main civil record lanes. District civil and family dockets belong to the District Clerk. Constitutional County Court civil work is narrower, and official research specifically identifies occupational-driver-license matters among that court's work. Justice civil, small-claims, and eviction files belong to the correct JP clerk. There is no county court at law in the documented Sabine structure.
| Court route | Typical civil scope | Keeper |
|---|---|---|
| 1st or 273rd District Court | General district civil and family matters | District Clerk Lisa Pitre |
| Constitutional County Court | Limited county civil work | County Clerk Jamie Clark |
| JP Precinct 1 or 2 | Justice civil, small claims, evictions | Precinct clerk |
That division controls where to call, where to inspect a file, and who may certify it. One clerk cannot certify another court's docket.
What a Civil Docket Shows
A Sabine County civil docket is an index-like trail, not the whole case file. Begin with the court and cause number, then read each event date and document title. A motion records what a party asked the court to do. Only an order or judgment shows the court's ruling.
| Case number | The clerk's cause number; no universal public Sabine format was confirmed. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, or respondent names as public access permits. |
| Filings | Petition, service return, answer, exhibits, and other filed documents. |
| Motions and settings | Requests for court action and the dates set to hear them. |
| Orders and judgment | The signed records that state what the court ruled or how the case ended. |
Sabine County Civil Docket Portal Limits
re:SearchTX is the statewide electronic-document route for registered users. Official materials describe county, court, case, and party filters where records are present. Coverage and document access vary, so a blank result is not proof that Sabine County has no civil case. eFileTexas sends filings to clerks; it is not the public docket.
GovRec's Sabine Civil Search card exposed no public search-by fields in the research metadata. It therefore cannot support a promise that users can search every JP civil file by name, address, or case number. When the correct precinct is known, call JP1 at 409-787-3719 or JP2 at 409-787-5248. A direct clerk check is more reliable than trying unrelated fields.

Types of Sabine County Civil Dockets
The District Clerk brochure supplies a broad, local list. District civil work includes debt and contract, foreclosure, injury or damage, malpractice, product liability, eminent domain, real property, writ, tax, and foreign-judgment matters. Family records are also a District Clerk route. Some family and child-related material is confidential or restricted even though the case category exists.
- Debt, contract, tax, and foreign-judgment cases
- Foreclosure, eminent-domain, and real-property matters
- Injury, damage, malpractice, and product-liability claims
- Divorce, parent-child, support, custody, and enforcement cases
- JP small claims and evictions kept by the precinct clerk
Sabine County Civil Day Settings
The official August 2026 district calendar uses the label SABINE CIVIL DAY. It marks a block of court time. It does not mean every civil file is shown in the PDF, every listed matter will be reached, or any claim has been decided. The calendar itself says it is subject to change.
Record the date, time, court label, county, setting type, and source. Then check the docket for the latest event and contact the District Clerk or coordinator. This is especially important because the 1st and 273rd District Courts are multi-county courts. A judge, coordinator, or linked address may sit outside Hemphill even when the file remains a Sabine County civil docket.
Settings on Sabine County Civil Dockets
A civil docket may show service, an answer, motion practice, discovery, mediation, a temporary order, trial setting, final order, judgment, abstract, execution, or appeal. A reset or continuance moves the hearing but does not decide the claim. The signed scheduling or reset order and the clerk's latest entry are stronger sources than an old calendar download.
Use the Sabine County court calendar to identify a likely hearing block, then confirm it with the responsible office. The District Clerk lists Melissa Stark as coordinator for the 1st Judicial District Court at 409-384-9570 and districtcourt@co.jasper.tx.us. It lists Amber Dubea for the 273rd at 936-598-3201 and amber.dubea@co.shelby.tx.us. Older 273rd-page details conflict with that newer block, so verify before travel.
Public Access to Civil Dockets
Public Sabine County civil dockets can still contain redactions or access limits. Juvenile, adoption, child-protection, protective-order, sealed, and sensitive family material may be withheld in whole or part. A record can also be paper-only, too new for a portal, filed in another court, or hidden by a closed-case filter. “Not online” does not by itself mean sealed.
Key Rules:
Texas Government Code Chapter 51 addresses district-clerk custody, indexing, preservation, and certification.
The OCA open-records policy distinguishes court case files from ordinary administrative public records.
Rule 12 supplies a request route for certain non-case judicial records, not filed pleadings or judgments.
For a docket sheet, pleading, order, or judgment, use the clerk who maintains the case. A narrow request should name the court, cause number, document title or event, date range, format, certification level, and a fee ceiling. Sabine's county PIA instructions permit written administrative requests by mail, fax, email, or in person, but they do not turn a case-file request into an ordinary agency-record request.
Sabine County Civil Docket Movement
OCA's FY2024 district activity table reported 388 opening active civil matters, 73 added, 79 disposed, and 380 ending. Family activity was listed separately: 152 opening active, 128 added, 118 disposed, six inactive, and 135 ending. These are administrative movement counts, not unique people or a case-search index.
The figures show why a monthly setting sheet is only one view of the Sabine County civil docket. A party seeking proof of outcome should obtain the judgment or order, not calculate a result from aggregate counts or infer one from a docket status.
Official Sabine County Civil Docket Copies
Ask the correct clerk for a docket sheet, named pleading, order, judgment, or certified copy. The District Clerk may be contacted at 409-787-2912, by email, by mail at P.O. Box 850, or at the courthouse counter. The County Clerk accepts requests through its listed phone, email, fax, mail, and counter routes. JP files remain with each precinct.
No current universal Sabine court-docket copy fee or promised turnaround was found. The County Clerk's 2024 schedule lists general plain copies at $1 per page and certified copies at $5 plus $1 per page, but the office should confirm whether that block applies to the requested court record. A current County Clerk notice also requires valid identification for all transactions beginning January 1, 2026.
