Traffic Court Records in Sabine County
Traffic cases in Sabine County land in one of four places. The options are JP Precinct 1, JP Precinct 2, Hemphill Municipal Court, or Pineland Municipal Court. Where the alleged offense occurred helps narrow it down. Still, the citation itself names the right court. Justice courts handle Class C and citation matters within their jurisdiction. Municipal courts take city ordinance violations and Class C misdemeanors inside their city limits.
Each clerk keeps that court's traffic docket. A ticket written in the county does not make the Sabine County District Clerk or County Clerk the custodian. GovRec offers search and payment cards for both justice precincts and for Pineland. Hemphill posts its own city-court instructions. A portal summary can help you find the case, but only the issuing court can produce a certified disposition.
Sabine County Traffic Courts Compared
Four courts means four separate dockets, with their own staff, case numbers, and payment routes. JP1 and JP2 show up as distinct GovRec cards, identifiers TX202033J and TX202043J. Pineland Municipal Court runs its own application under TX2020A0J. Hemphill takes a different path. It uses its official court page for contact details, payment steps, appearance rules, and failure-to-appear instructions.
| Court | Record scope | Starting route |
|---|---|---|
| JP Precinct 1 | Justice and Class C citation matters | County Justice page and GovRec |
| JP Precinct 2 | Justice and Class C citation matters | County Justice page and GovRec |
| Hemphill Municipal Court | Hemphill ordinance and Class C cases | Official city court page |
| Pineland Municipal Court | Pineland ordinance and Class C cases | City Hall and GovRec |
GovRec may say "Sabine County" in its portal route, but that label does not move a city citation into a county clerk search. Trust the court name printed on your citation.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
The Sabine GovRec route gives you two ways to search the participating courts. The name-and-DOB method asks for first name, last name, and date of birth. The Citation tab is simpler. It asks only for the citation number. One screen may offer both search and payment, yet the two functions work separately.
- Read the citation and identify the issuing court.
- Select that exact JP or municipal court card.
- Use Citation when the printed number is available.
- Use Name and DOB when the court supports that tab.
- Enable closed cases if an older matter does not appear.
- Call or visit the court when the result is missing or unclear.
To look up a traffic ticket, contact the right court first. JP clerk offices are listed on the county Justice Court page at the courthouse. Hemphill Municipal Court takes calls at 409-787-2251. Pineland City Hall can be reached at 409-584-2390. Before mailing any written request, confirm the details with that specific court. That way you use the correct payee, copy type, and mailing address.
Sabine County Citation Search Fields
The field list is short, but picking the right court matters most. GovRec's public metadata spells out the required values and the result vocabulary. No universal citation format exists there. Type letters, numbers, and punctuation exactly as printed. Also note that the portal may display a case number that differs from the citation number.
| Search tab | Field | Required | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name and DOB | First Name | Yes | Use filed spelling |
| Name and DOB | Last Name | Yes | Use filed spelling |
| Name and DOB | DOB | Yes | Date of birth |
| Citation | Citation | Yes | Enter the printed identifier |
| Results | Display Closed Cases | No | Closed records may otherwise be hidden |
A result can carry labels such as Case Number, Case Type, Citation Number, Court Name, Court Info, Case Information, Payment Information, Pay Plan, and PAY. None of those labels stands in for a signed judgment.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
Begin with the appearance information printed on the citation, then verify it with the issuing court. A GovRec result may include case information, but Sabine County posts no county-wide traffic calendar. The district PDF calendar covers district settings only, so it cannot substitute for a JP or municipal ticket date.
| Citation Number | Keep the court-issued value exactly as printed, shown as citation number from ticket |
|---|---|
| Court | JP1, JP2, Hemphill Municipal Court, or Pineland Municipal Court |
| Date and Time | The appearance or hearing setting confirmed by the clerk |
| Location | The issuing court's current counter or courtroom |
| Status | Pending, set, paid, disposed, or another court-defined state |
A reset or continuance moves the setting. It does not end the case. Write down whom you spoke with and when, and if the date is close or the portal contradicts the citation, do what the clerk tells you live.
Hemphill Traffic Record Instructions
Hemphill Municipal Court sits at City Hall, 211 Starr Street. Office windows are open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Appointments are another option. The judge may be out, so call before you go.
Phone payments take Mastercard or Visa with a six-dollar phone card fee. A mailed check or money order goes to City of Hemphill Municipal Court. It must list the name plus the citation or docket number. At the counter you can pay with cash, check, money order, or credit card. Personal checks will not clear outstanding warrants, though. Payment plans require an appointment before the judge. The city's official court page shows the local access and payment source.

City courts adjust hours and payment methods from time to time. Confirm these Hemphill terms with the court when you use them.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
Paying and contesting are two different choices, not variations of one. A payment button is not a neutral lookup step. Ask the court about the plea first. Ask what case result your payment will record before you send money. To fight the ticket, follow the issuing court's instructions for a response and setting instead of paying through the portal.
| Paying | Contesting |
|---|---|
| Confirm the amount, plea effect, and accepted method with the court | Tell the court you seek the available contest or plea route |
| Use the court's portal, mail, phone, or counter as allowed | Meet the response date and obtain the new setting |
| Keep the receipt, then confirm the docket update | Keep written notice of the hearing date and place |
Do not ignore the date: Hemphill warns that failure to appear may add a promise-to-appear violation and warrant consequences, while unpaid fines can be referred to OmniBase and collection.
In Hemphill, a juvenile under 17 must appear with a parent or guardian. Proof of marriage also works. That local rule is one more reason to call the city court rather than assume the standard payment screen resolves every ticket.
Pineland Sabine County Traffic Access
Pineland Municipal Court sits inside City Hall at 110 Timberland Highway. Doors stay open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cynthia Brister serves as both clerk and judge. Cash is accepted. You can also pay with a cashier's check, a money order, or a debit or credit card.
One caution from the city deserves attention. Paying online takes care of the citation payment and nothing else. Whatever else the citation requires still falls on you. Pineland's Chapter 7 code gives the court jurisdiction over city ordinances and Class C misdemeanors. It also covers jury trials, nonjury trials, pretrial conferences, and juvenile procedures.
GovRec offers another way in, but it is not the only holder of the record. If its Pineland card comes up empty, call City Hall. A certified disposition requires the court name, the citation, the date, and the certification type. And remember: a portal receipt is not a certified court record.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two offices, two files. The clerk at the issuing JP or municipal court holds the traffic court case record. The Texas Department of Public Security keeps the state driver record. That record includes the failure-to-appear and failure-to-pay renewal program. Use a court docket portal only to read the citation case itself: its date and its disposition.
| Court traffic record | State driver record | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Issuing JP or municipal clerk | Texas Department of Public Safety |
| Shows | Citation, plea, settings, payments, disposition | State-maintained licensing history and status |
| Request | Court search or clerk copy request | Official DPS record channel |
A clean portal result proves nothing about what DPS holds. Nor does a DPS status hand you the signed court disposition. When something looks wrong, take it to the office that owns that file.
Sabine County FTA Clearance Route
The DPS failure-to-appear and failure-to-pay page sends you back to the court that filed the report. That court can confirm fines or fees. It can also confirm the case status, trial or payment options, and whether clearance has gone in yet. DPS warns that a court update needs three to five business days to post. License staff have no warrant information to give you.
The official DPS screen lays out that court-first workflow.

DPS simply processes the report once the court acts. So the court controls the live citation status. Hemphill lists OmniBase at 800-686-0570. Even so, the city court comes first for the current case. Hold onto your court receipt. Let the stated processing window pass before you check on the state update.
Fees and Copies
Sabine County sets no single traffic-record copy fee. Each JP and municipal clerk keeps separate records and may charge differently. Ask the issuing court for a plain docket sheet, a judgment, a citation disposition, or a certified copy, and get the current total before you send any money.
| Item | Published fee | How to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Hemphill phone card payment | $6 phone fee | Confirm with the city court |
| Plain traffic record copy | Not published county-wide | Ask the issuing clerk |
| Certified disposition | Not published county-wide | State citation, court, and copy type |
| GovRec payment charge | No official amount captured | Review the live checkout before paying |
Mail requests work best with full detail. Include your contact information, the citation and case numbers if you have both, the approximate date, the exact document you need, whether certification is required, your delivery address, and a fee ceiling you will not exceed. One warning: do not assume the County Clerk's general copy schedule covers an independently kept JP or city file.
Sabine County Payment Is Not Disposition
A receipt shows one thing: payment was submitted. It does not prove dismissal, closure, clearance, or how the judgment reads. On GovRec, the Payment Information, Pay Plan, and PAY fields are transaction tools. They sit beside the case data. Pineland puts it plainly: online payment satisfies only the payment requirement. The cited person stays responsible for other required information.
Best proof: Ask the issuing clerk for the docket entry or signed disposition and specify whether a plain or certified copy is required.
Once the transaction posts, check the court record again. If a hearing was set, make sure it is still on the docket. Where DPS is involved, verify the court sent the update and give it the stated processing time. Those habits keep the Sabine County citation record distinct. The payment event and the state update stay separate too.
